I read the poem Heat by Denis Johnson. The poem is about a person thinking about having sex with a woman named Susan, but it turns out to be a hallucination and that it is not real and will be almost impossible to get it. It resonates with me because these are things that young people go through and I am young. It is the imagery that it creates when a person reads it that resonates with me. It creates, to me, an image of a guy thinking about sex and then it is gone and he realize that it is a hallucination and will have to work very hard to get. People, everyday, think about things happening to them or what they want to happen to them and then they realize that they don't have it, it won't happen to them, or it will be almost impossible to achieve. It also resonates with me because I always go though times when i want something and I think and dream about it all the time and realize that it will be hard for me to get, but if I work hard for it and wait patiently then it will eventually come to me.I think that poetry is still an important art form. For some people it is a way for them to express themselves to other people without having to say anything or if a person does not have the words to describe how or what they feel, a poem could be a way for them express their feelings. Many people are better at writing and ryhming their words and feelings then they are at painting, rapping, or singing. With poetry a person can speak their soul and it has meaning and not just some crap, it can be a good way to soothe you when you are mad or upset, just grab a pen and paper and get the writing. I think to some people just writing and bringing things togeather is better then rapping, singing, or painting.
