I hoped that today would be a good day and it was. I am spending the weekend at Morgie Poos this weekend. It will be Shaloni, Kellie, and me. Morgie is going home for halloween and well Kellie is going home also, so it will be just Shaloni and I. I hope we have some fun this weekend. I think I am doing better in my Psychology class. I now have a tutor to help me. It is Navid who is helping me. He is really good at explaining and giving me examples that I can really understand. When I go to study the terms and the notes I took, I feel I will have a better understanding and finally be able to make an A or at least B. I hope to make an A. If I do it will boost my grade up and I will feel better. It is like he test on the concept not the definition, which I guess that is what college is all about. If I make a good grade on my test I will come out of my depression and I will feel happy, not like things are out of my control. I think that if I focus on my work, I mean really focus I will have a better grasp. I will study more and try harder. I also hope that I did good on my speech. I read it to the class and nost of my class mates said I did good but I felt that I stumbled on a few words and was speed reading, but other then that I think I did great. I could tell that the teacher liked a it. She was smiling at the end and I could also tell that she liked my attention-getter. I saw her smile during that part and write quickly on her paper.

I think that people make up myths and legends because they want to be just like the artists people lie about. I also think another reason that people make up myths and legends is because they are jealous of them and want what they have. Alot of people want to be famous, so what's a better way to get some attention then to talk about the person who is the hottest and most popular right now. Some people want to be like the people they lie about and they look up to them and think "hey i'm so cool and if i say somethings about them, that will help the artist to become even more popular and it will also help me to become popular."I think that we sometimes correlate imsanity and talent because when we are in a state of mind where you don't have interaction with other people because they don't want to be around because they are scared of you, A person can really can find and focus on that specific talent because they have the peace and alone time to find it. I think that the "tortured artist" is a cliche because some artists say all the time when they are upset or going through something that has a big impact on them, they say they are a "torturted artist" because things are not going their way or that is how their work is. The cliche is just something the artist uses to give themself a label and make them feel like they are special. I mean alot people call themselves a "torturted soul"

Today is going to be a good day. I an already tell. I feel good and look good. my best friend Jackie and I are going shopping. That is my favorite thing to do. When i am stressed, upset, just want to get away from it all, or just to have fun, i go shopping. Shopping to me is like when massage. it makes you feel good about the all the things that cause you pain or make you feel bad. It always knows the right spots to hit. It helps to make you forgot all of the things you are stressed about and to just relax.
Jackie and I are going to Perimeter mall. I have to get some more jewelery, a pair of black boots, a winter jacket, and some more shirts from Forever Twenty-One. I hope that I don't go broke from this, i still have my phone bill to pay for for about three more months. I will then get my next refund check. I can then go shopping again and finally be able to get another car, but I think I will save it for when I move in next year. I plan to move to the commons. Things should go better when I move down here. I will be able to concentrate more and have the full college experience. Commuting everyday is hard and it is stupid. I pay Marta thirty-seven dollars and fifty for the unlimited pass and C-Tran about twenty-six dollars for a twenty ride pass. They are getting expensive and that is money that I could be saving. Today will be a good day I can feel it.

Stax Records is a very important record company. Its influence is so important it should go in the story books. Stax Records founded some of the great talent that was big in the 60's. They signed groups like: Isaac Hayes, Staple Singers, Otis Redding, or Rufus Thomas. Stax Records was founded by Jim Stewert and Estelle Stewert Axton, they were brother and sister. Later it was taken over by Al Bell, who made it as great as it was. If it was never founded, this generation would never have heard of these people or some of them would of never been founded by other people. Other record companies were not intrested in finding black musicians to promote and perform, they only wanted white people because it was during segregated times. Stax was the first to promote black people, so it became an inspiration to other black people and people of other races that were not accepted by society. It influenced people to take a stand and stand for what they believe in and never back down because you do have a voice and that a person was so much more then just trash to be walked over.I have never heard of Stax Records and I have only heard of one the artists mentioned which is Otis Redding. My mom or dad told me about them. I can never remember which. They do not intrest me because it is not the kind of music that I listin to, but if I did I think that I would of heard of them and really known about them and the artists they promoted.

Yesterday was not a good day for me. I thought I had everything in order. I thought that everything was going to be smooth sailing and that I would pass my Psych. Exam. I barely passed, I made a 74 on it. I studied my butt of for the exam. I thought that I would at least make a B. I was hoping for an A. I was so upset yesterday that I feel into a little depression and did not want to be bothered by anyone. My best friend Jackie gave me a hug to try and make me feel better and that only helped a little. She told me something that made me realize that it is not the end of the world and that I still have time to fix it and bring my grade up. She said " you win some, you lose some. You are not going to win every time and there is always time to fix it." She even used herslf as an example. I thought about what she said and realized that she was right and that I did do better then I did on my first exam. After that I felt better and to really get my mind off of i went to work out with Morgan and some other friends. The workout really made me feel good and not think about it. It helped me to put it in the back of my mind and I felt like it was so far away and that I could deal with it another day. I went home and My mom and I got into it about me not having a job, so I can by my own things and not ask her for any money. I said that I wont ask her for anything anymore. Later on we came to an agreement I will get a job, but only work like three days. I get a refund check of over 2,000 dollers and I give her 1,000 of it. I also explained to her that college is a full time thing and I'm stll adjusting to it. After all of this I went to sleep and in the morning I felt better and felt like I can balance all of this.

I watched the episode CNN leaves it there. I think that Jon Stewert does challange mainstream media and the crap that comes out of their mouthes. Jon Stewert talks about how CNN "leaves it there" when they talk about the healthcare, the reform, and the bill being passed. Jon Stewert basically calls them out on what they are doing. He is basically saying that they need to finish what they were saying, they are on 24 hours a day and they can't seem to finish with what they are saying. Jon Stewert can finish what he has to say in under twelve mininutes so why can't CNN. Jon Stewert just tells how things really are and what really goes on. He does not leave things out or suger coat things. He tells the good along with the bad and adds a little humor in it, which makes the show so popular. CNN should tell everything not just what they want Americans to hear. They should also try to add some humor instead of always being so serious. They might get more ratings if they were. CNN should also try and not beat around the bush with what they are saying and just say it. They always seem to dance around it for a few minutes and then when they start to talk they don't even go into detail. They give the bare minimin. This is the reason thta people watch The Daily Show wiht Jon Stewert. It speaks the truth and actually finishes the stories they have.

This says that the quality of music will soon start to decline based on this machine and how it rates people or groups songs and how popular it will be with the generation. In the near future this machine will probably make or break a music artist. With this machine, a music artist with really good music ,that is uncommon but none the less really good to listin to, might not get discovered because of the machines standards of what is "Hot" and "Happining" now is not what the artists music sounds like. With this people like Maxwell or Joe might not have been discovered. The generation now listins mostly to rap, hip hop, or anything upbeat and fast. So anything that is slow or something that a person just listin to and goes to sleep to might not be around. In some ways it might even discourage some people or it might encourage a person. It would encourage a person to change their music and do better, but then a person would also be taking away a part of themselves just to fit in. It could also discourage a person to not try because if a machine, that knows what is hot and what will sell, tells an artist that their music is crap that person might think that the machine knows what it is talking about and my stuff might not sell. Music will no longer have any real meaning to it. It will be empty and nothing that will make you think and feel good it will just be something to past the time. The hit knower machine will do no good it could put down people and all the dreams they have because it does not fit into the mold.

Art 21: Romance- The Art 21: Romance consisted of four artists that each represented a diffrent art. The four artists are: Lurie Simmons, Lari Pittman, Judy pfaff, and Pierre Hughes. Lurie Simmons took photographs and used them as tools for her art. She made a play that was three acts and used puppets instead of actors. Lurie expected her viewers to feel that they were entering a real place. Act one gave her the chance to explore the love within a family and with neighbors and problems with family and neighbors. Act two is the part with Meryl Streep and the dummy. It depicts the love between the girl and the dummy. Act tree had to do with the audience. She said that romance makes it more emotional and can connect with the audience. She also said that time is most important yet regret is the prevailing emotion that brings the tree acts togeather. There is regret because the clock was not lead and the birthday cake was. If the clock tried out it would of got the lead, but it did not. Lari Pittman was a painter and he talked about gay and homosexual in America and how it cannot be hid. He had paintings of birds in cages. He was atheist and yet he was fascinated by jesus. He used jseus in his paintings. Judy Pfaff used welding as her form of art and decribed her background. She was intrested in tree roots and used those as the inspiration of her art. She said that romance equals emotion. The last artist was Pierre Hughes. He used a play as his work of art. He thinks that Humer is important to break even the possibilites of critical judgement and likes the speed of humor. Pierre thought that it would be intresting to set up a reality to produce a reality and to document this reality.I think that each artist had a good thought or idea. I think that humor is important, but a artist needs to be able to connect with his/her audience and get them to understand and see their way of thinking. They need to be able to explain without confussing the audience. I also think that romance is an important element in any art. It helps to connect with the audience on an emotional level and make the art not seem so not down to earth, as if it is not just art but an impact on a persons life.

I had so much fun yesterday. I loved it. Yesterday I went to see Gym Class Heros with my best friend Jackie. Spotlight, the program that creates activities, had them come here. I loved every moment of it. Jackie and I met a girl named Destiny and another girl named Giselle. They were nice and we exchanged numbers with them. I also meet one of Jackies' ex boyfriends which was kind of wierd because Jackie did not even want to see him again. He tried to block me from getting into the concert. That was when I had to let him know I was not having any of that. I also meet this other guy and he was cute and nice. He offered me something to drink but I turned him down, I wanted to make sure I was good for the concert. When we got in there we got front row seats, we had floor seating. My other friend Brittany was also there. The openeing act was a group called Micah Dalton. They were good but not better then Gym Class Heros. They performed for about thirty min. When Gym Class Heros came out everyone ran to the stage. They performed several songs including: Cupids Chokehold, Viva La White Girl, Clothes Off, and Simple living. Travis, the lead singer/rapper, grabbed my hand. He also sang to this girl from Spellman college. Towards the end someone asked for them to take off his boxers. I thought that was funny. After the concert Jackie and I went to IHOP. We had chicken tenders and fries. God I had the best time ever. I will remember this day forever. I loved every moment of this night.

I have alot of books that I love but my favorite book is called "Confessions of a Rookie Cheerleader."It is written by Erika J. Kendrick. Erika used to be a cheerleader and so the book is based off of her life before she became a writer. The book is about a Woman named Hannah Love. She is a music exec. and works for Rockstar records. She has everything she wants a nice apartment, great friends, and a wonderful fiance. After finding out that her fiance is cheating on her, she leaves him and goes to chicago. While in Chicago, she decides to try out for the chicago diamonds. She makes the team. While on the team she meets Max Knight, the star player of the Chicago Diamonds. Hannah also gets into a few run ins with a jealous teammates and a very flirty boss. Max and Hannahs love for each other grows, but they are not allowed to date. The golden rule is that teammates can not date each other. They try and keep their relationship out of the limelight, but it just blows up in their faces. Hannah learns that some of the cheerleaders are dating the basketball players. Hannah and Max decide to try the relationship out. In her journey to find herself and what she wants she learns that her boss is gay and has been sleeping with his boss. When she finds this out and the fact that he is not taking her with him to this premotion deal that was in the works, she decides to leave and take her most valuable asset with her,Rain, the next hottest thing to hit the market. In the end Max and Hannah get married and she becomes the president of True records.I love this book because it makes me feel like dreams really do come true if you hard at them. It also makes me think that even in the worst of times, the very best is always right around the corner just waiting for you to go get it.

I read the article and found that it does have some relevence to my life. I am half black and Al Franken making a refrence to black people and how wrong it is to treat black people wrong and like they are beneath a person made me think that they're some good people left in the world. It makes me think people of diffrent races can coexisit in harmany in the world. After reading this article I feel better about going out and meeting new people and meeting people of higher standing. I now realize that people of higher standing are not all racist like their parents might have been. It shows that America has made big changes from the 50's and 60's.Some of the terms and refrences i don't know are: Al Franken eventually taking his seat, death of Walter Cronkite, National Committee for an Effective Congress, now-historic call upon the lady governor, Zola, Swift, Bernie Goldberg, Heritage Foundation, Brookings Institution, Citizens for Tax Justice, Joseph Welch’s famous challenge to Joseph McCarthy, and African American lesbian comedian. I think no of these terms or refrences are relevent to me in any way. I don't care about an african american lesbian comedian, Joseph Welch's challenge to Joseph McCarthy, or Walter Cronkite. I don't even know who these people are. These people or events will not help me in my life or what i want to do in life. The Heritage Foundation or Brookings Institution has not given me any money or helped me in any way, so I don't care who or what they do. When these events or people start helping me then i will care about them and what they do. Only then will I care because they will have an impact on my life and how it progresses or how i view my life.

I found the article intresting. I did not know about Americans losing their religion. I think it is sad. Americans should not lose their religion especially during times like these, when the economy is in the worse shape that it could possibly be in right now. Instead people should be united with their religion, even more in tune with it now that things are happening. This is saying that americans are losing themselves or they just might be finding themselves. I say they are losing themselves because they are starting to doubt their religion. Many people hear basically " God is on your side" and they believe it. That is what people are mostly tought in their religion. Some Christians think they are better than any other religion and the same goes for other religions. They think the same. People are forgetting that God love everyone and sees everyone as equal. So God has no side, he cares for us all. People forget this and they might think the pastor is lying and leave because they feel they have been decieved.I say that Americans also might be finding themselves because many people join a religion because their family is that religion or their friends are and they want to fit in. Some people don't want to disappoint the person or people they cherish the most. So they put their feelings and their thoughts about religion on the back burner. Many Americans are finally learning to think for themselves and make their own decisions about what thier religion should be. So either way this could be a postitive or negative thing for all Americans.
